Change Starts With You: Here Are 6 Steps To Creating Change

Many of us make decisions based on experiences. When it comes to eating, we make decisions based on what we are most familiar with & most comfortable with. When we are unfamiliar with a particular task, we become uncomfortable & resort to the easiest decision. If we are unfamiliar with exercise & join a gym, we resort to hopping on the cardio equipment & performing the monotonous task many days in a row. We then get bored because that is all we are comfortable with performing.⁣⁣

Are you ready to make the decision to create change for yourself? Making a change starts with a decision made by you and only you. No one can make these changes for you. To quote Ryan Holiday, “when we change our philosophy we change our attitude and when we change our attitude, we change our actions. And then, as he [Malcolm X] did, we can change ourselves and change the world.”

Here are 6 Steps to Creating Change:⁣⁣

1. Determine Your Goal: Make a list of goals & rank them based on what is most important to you.⁣⁣

2. Develop Resources: Resources allow you to develop the ability to make a better & more informed decision. By obtaining such resources, you are able to ask questions & learn from others to make well-informed decisions based on your goal.⁣⁣

3. Assess Your Options: You now have the ability to create a list of paths you can take based on the information you have.⁣⁣

4. Brainstorm Pros & Cons: With a list of options, we can make a list of pros & cons for each option.⁣

5. Make the Decision: With a list of pros and cons, we can narrow down what path we’d like to take to create change. If the decision is difficult, rate your list from most favorable to least. Begin scratching out the least favorable option & work your way through the options until you have only one left.⁣⁣

6. Analyze Your Decision: Now, analyze whether your decision was a good option or not. This will be an important step as your experience develops in creating change. If your decision was a good decision, your experience will lead you to better future decisions. If you decide your option was poor, this experience will also lead you to better future decisions.⁣⁣
