Non-Scale Victories: You are NOT the number on the scale!
πNon-Scale Victoriesπ
βYou are NOT the number on the scale! π«β
It's so easy to let the scale define who we are as a person. But it doesn't! The scale simply is a measurement of how much the force of gravity acts on a given amount of mass. That's it! It doesn't tell us anything about your personality, the things you love to do, what you do for a living, etc. Yet, we let that number determine whether it's a good day or a bad day.
β‘οΈ Scale goes down = good day! Happiness, joy, glee, confident β
β‘οΈ Scale goes up = bad day = shame, guilt, anger, isolation β
Scales aren't always the most reliable gauge of your progress either. It doesn't read your body composition (water weight, fat weight, muscle mass). Fortunately, there are so many ways to monitor your progress - some of which are often overlooked.
Outside of the ones mentioned on the image above, here are some additional ones:
π· Progress pics: be sure to take before & after photos. If not, peruse some old photos of you with your friends.
π Tape Measure: a measuring tape can evaluate fat loss/muscle gain at specific areas of your body = hips, waist, arms, chest, glutes, thighs, neck, etc.
π Clearer Skin: it's absolutely common but overlooked to see individuals progress with clearer skin.
π¦΅: Joint Pain: upon losing body fat, incorporating & other forms of movement, strength training, & eating healthier, it's not uncommon to experience less inflammation & pain in your joints.
π Health: Your hard work will help lower your blood pressure, A1C levels, cholesterol, & more while also allowing you to reduce your intake of medication.
π¦: Drinking more water.
π₯: Eating more vegetables.
π©: Achieving a specific milestone for you. I.E., 100th work out, 30-day challenge, 1 year of logging, etc.
π£οΈ: Others are noticing your success & complimenting you. You will be the last to see your success however others will be quick to notice. When you receive such, I always recommend writing them down so that you can refer back to them.
And the list goes on! Just remember, sometimes the smallest & simplest things can have the BIGGEST impact! π
